The Home Inspection
A professional home inspection protects both the seller and the buyer. It allows both parties the opportunity to learn about the property’s defects.
A home inspection usually covers the following:
- Plumbing conditions - if there is leakage or clogging
- Roofing conditions - the extent of deterioration, if there is leakage
- Electrical conditions - if there are inadequate circuits or potential fire hazards
- Structural problems - if there are problems with the underlying foundation of your home
The home inspection serves a couple of key purposes, including informing buyers of any major repair needs that may impact their desire to purchase the property. Often times, it results in a few back and forth negotiations between buyer and seller in terms of repair requests or price modifications. If you’re a seller, getting a home inspection in advance might be able to cut down on these types of negotiations, as well as help you close the deal at or above listing price.
